Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had a meltdown when leftist MSNBC host Katy Tur dared to mildly defend former President Donald Trump during an interview, declaring her to be an “apologist for Donald Trump.”
During an appearance on MSNBC on Monday, Pelosi falsely claimed that Trump was to blame for the job losses that came as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic — deeming him the “worst president” for employment despite the fact that Trump had broken records for employment in numerous categories under his presidency, and jobs were only lost in his last year in office because Democrats, and some Republicans, shut down their states.
Tur, who is no fan of Trump, pushed back slightly against Pelosi’s comment, pointing out that this was during “a global pandemic.”
Pelosi refused to acknowledge this fact, instead insisting that Trump “had the worst record of any president, we’ve had other concerns in our country.”
“If you want to be an apologist for Donald Trump, that may be your role, but it ain’t mine,” she added.
Tur responded by stating that there’s no reason anyone could accuse her of being a Trump apologist.

Pelosi and the Democrats refuse to acknowledge the extenuating circumstances behind Trump’s high unemployment numbers in the last year of his presidency mostly because of their unhinged hatred for the former president. However, another major reason behind this refusal to acknowledge reality is that the Democrats desperately need this narrative in order to prop up President Joe Biden, as the “record job growth” they often cite as a highlight of Biden’s presidency can mostly be attributed to people regaining their jobs after pandemic restrictions were lifted. If they were to acknowledge that the pandemic, rather than Trump, was to blame for the job losses, they would be forced to acknowledge that Biden was not responsible for the job growth — removing one of the only “positive” aspects of Biden’s presidency for him to campaign on.
