Trump’s Return To Oval Office Brings Back Diet Coke Button

As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to re-enter the White House, one familiar feature is set to return — the Diet Coke button. Installed during his first term, the button will once again occupy a place on the Resolute Desk, allowing Trump to summon his favorite beverage with a press.

Known to drink up to 12 cans of Diet Coke daily, Trump’s love for the soda is well-documented. The button became a quirky hallmark of his administration, symbolizing his unapologetically personal approach to the presidency.

White House staff have just five hours on January 20 to transition the residence and Oval Office from the Biden administration to Trump’s second term. The team of roughly 100 non-political employees, including cooks, housekeepers, and butlers, will ensure the space is ready for the returning first family.

“It’s easier because they’ve lived there before,” said Kate Anderson Brower, author of The Residence. She noted that staff are already familiar with the Trumps’ preferences, from their favorite meals to personal routines.

During his campaign, Trump often referenced his on-the-go eating habits, citing the excitement of speaking to large crowds as a reason he skipped meals. The campaign trail even saw him take over a McDonald’s drive-thru, reinforcing his image as a man of the people.

The transition staff will also stock the White House kitchens with the Trump family’s favorite foods, ensuring their return is as smooth as possible.
