Trump Campaign Criticizes CNN For Silencing Press Secretary

The Trump campaign has criticized CNN for cutting off an interview with Karoline Leavitt, the national press secretary for the campaign. The incident took place on Monday when CNN’s Kasie Hunt abruptly ended the interview as Leavitt began discussing Jake Tapper’s critical stance towards former President Donald Trump. Tapper is set to co-host the first presidential debate on Thursday.

Leavitt responded to the incident by stating, “CNN cutting off my microphone for bringing up a debate moderator’s history of anti-Trump lies just proves our point that President Trump will not be treated fairly in Thursday’s debate. Yet President Trump is still willing to go into this 3-1 fight to bring his winning message to the American people, and he will win,” she told Breitbart News.

Hunt later posted on X, explaining her decision to cut off Leavitt. She emphasized the importance of respect for her colleagues, saying, “You come on my show, you respect my colleagues. Period. I don’t care what side of the aisle you stand on, as my track record clearly shows.”

The Trump campaign pointed to several instances where Tapper has criticized Trump, including calling his presidency a “disaster” and accusing him of attempting to undermine democracy. Tapper has also been criticized for his handling of the Russia collusion investigation and for refusing to air Trump live due to “potentially dangerous” content.

The debate, which will be a significant rematch between Trump and President Joe Biden, is highly anticipated. Under Biden’s leadership, there has been a notable rise in prices and a significant increase in illegal immigration. Although the debate rules are perceived to favor Biden, voters are eager to see how he addresses critical issues such as the economy and immigration, as highlighted by a Reuters focus group.

The debate will be broadcast for 90 minutes, starting at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.
