Builders across the United States are preparing for a housing market surge as President-elect Donald Trump’s administration promises to roll back regulations and provide economic momentum. Optimism is high as the industry anticipates significant growth under Trump’s leadership.
Builder sentiment has climbed steadily in recent months. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) reported rising confidence, with Fannie Mae projecting a 7.2% increase in new-home sales by 2025. “Anyone taking a risk in the housing market right now feels really good,” said Greg Hardwick, a Florida-based builder.
Trump’s return to the presidency has builders hopeful about regulatory reform. Federal wetlands permits and strict energy efficiency standards, viewed as roadblocks, could be eased, allowing for more efficient operations. Alicia Huey of AGH Homes in Alabama described how these regulations have created unnecessary challenges.
Huey highlighted one client’s experience where permitting delays made completing a simple fence project nearly impossible. Builders are looking forward to a streamlined process under Trump’s administration that eliminates such inefficiencies.
Carl Harris, NAHB chairman, said he expects more buyers to enter the market as economic confidence grows and mortgage rates stabilize. “The opportunities for builders right now are tremendous,” Harris said, adding that the market’s potential is among the best he’s seen in years.
With optimism soaring, Trump’s presidency signals a bright future for the U.S. housing industry.
