Biden Points Finger At Obama Over Ukraine Invasion, New Book Claims

President Joe Biden blames former President Barack Obama for Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, according to a new book by Bob Woodward. The book, War, reveals that Biden was critical of how the Obama administration handled the 2014 Crimea crisis, believing that their lack of action emboldened Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Biden reportedly said to a friend, “They f—ed up in 2014,” referring to the Obama administration’s failure to take decisive action when Russia annexed Crimea. He added, “We gave Putin a license to continue,” a criticism that Ukrainian officials have echoed in recent years.

The book also reveals that Biden-Harris administration officials were aware of Putin’s plans to invade Ukraine as early as October 2021, thanks to a senior-level source inside the Kremlin. This intelligence allowed U.S. officials to anticipate Putin’s next move and prepare for the conflict.

In a heated video call in December 2021, Biden confronted Putin over his invasion plans, with the discussion reaching a boiling point when Putin reportedly threatened nuclear war. Later intelligence indicated a 50% chance that Putin, faced with mounting losses, might use tactical nuclear weapons.
