USAID Sign Removed As Trump Administration Moves To Shut Down Agency

Video footage shows the United States Agency for International Development headquarters with its name completely removed, marking a major step in President Donald Trump’s efforts to shut down the agency. This comes after an audit exposed the agency’s involvement in foreign media funding, global activism, and radical ideological spending.

USAID has been a major financial force in Ukraine’s media landscape, with nine out of ten outlets in the country relying on foreign donors. With the Trump administration freezing the agency’s funding, these media organizations now face uncertainty, raising questions about who will take control of Ukraine’s press.

Beyond media influence, USAID’s funding extended into ideological projects worldwide. Money was allocated for LGBT lobbying in Serbia and a transgender opera in Colombia. Other taxpayer funds went toward a Sesame Street program in Iraq, gender-focused media training in Sri Lanka, and a transgender comic book in Peru.

Black Lives Matter was also a key recipient of USAID-backed grants. The Soros-funded Tides Center received a $24.7 million grant from USAID, with over $12.6 million later funneled to BLM-affiliated organizations. These funds helped sustain Black Lives Matter efforts during the 2020 protests, which resulted in widespread damage across American cities.

USAID’s role in European politics has also drawn criticism. A German lawmaker in the European Parliament has called for an investigation into whether the agency attempted to manipulate elections in multiple EU countries. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has also pledged to expose all U.S. funding directed toward foreign-backed media and activist groups in his country.

The agency has also been linked to President Donald Trump’s first impeachment. Reports show that a CIA whistleblower who initiated the impeachment inquiry relied on sources funded by USAID and the State Department. With the agency’s headquarters now stripped of its name, USAID’s future remains in question as the Trump administration pushes forward with its plans to dismantle it.
