President Donald Trump has taken decisive action to reclaim the Kennedy Center from years of leftist control, appointing new leadership and pledging to restore its focus on traditional American values. His recent visit to the facility underscored his commitment to making the arts institution more reflective of the country’s cultural heritage.
After replacing key board members in February, Trump held a meeting at the center, where he expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of the venue. Despite a massive taxpayer-funded expansion, he noted that some areas were in disrepair and that millions had been spent on unnecessary underground rooms. “We’re going to fix it up,” he declared.

He says they wanted to charge Lee Greenwood $30,000 just to sing there. Trump also says he is going to get with Speaker Johnson to fix its architecture.

His restructuring of the board has already led to major shifts in programming. Richard Grenell, the new interim executive director, has announced that certain events will be cut, including drag performances and other left-wing productions that had become common at the center.
Hollywood figures wasted no time in protesting Trump’s leadership. Lin-Manuel Miranda canceled an upcoming Hamilton production, while Issa Rae backed out of a planned appearance. Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife were also met with hostility during a recent visit, with audience members jeering at them.

Grenell has emphasized that the Kennedy Center will embrace a more inclusive vision — one that does not exclude conservatives or those with traditional values. He announced plans for a major Christmas event, ensuring that the holiday would be properly celebrated at the venue.
Trump also highlighted financial inefficiencies at the center, noting that basic operational costs were out of control. He pointed to the excessive expense of moving a piano for a performance, attributing the issue to bloated union rules that drive up costs.
Despite the backlash from leftist activists, Trump remains firm in his mission to transform the Kennedy Center into a space that serves all Americans, not just a political elite pushing an ideological agenda.
