Trump Responds To Supreme Court Rejecting Jack Smith’s Demands

Former President Donald Trump has issued a fiery response to the Supreme Court’s rejection of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s petition demanding that they bypass the appeals court process and rule on Trump’s presidential immunity defense.

After U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan rejected Trump’s presidential immunity defense, the former president’s legal team appealed the decision to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, which has scheduled an expedited hearing on the issue on January 9.

Smith attempted to bypass this step in the legal process by filing a petition directly to the Supreme Court to have them rule quickly on Trump’s argument, claiming that it was necessary to rush the matter due to his planned timetable for the trial — which he had conveniently scheduled for one day before Super Tuesday in the 2024 presidential election.

This would potentially allow the special counsel to convict and possibly imprison Trump before Election Day, which many commentators believe was Smith’s intention for trying to fast-track the trial.

However, the Supreme Court rejected that petition earlier this week, which means that it is very likely that Trump’s trial will not begin until closer to Election Day, or even after the 2024 election is decided.

Trump responded to the Supreme Court’s decision in a post to Truth Social on Saturday.

“The Supreme Court has unanimously rejected Deranged Jack Smith’s ‘SUPER SPEEDY’ lawsuit against me,” he began.

“This sick puppies team of Lowlifes and Radical Left Thugs could have brought this ‘case’ 3 years ago, and it would be long over by now,” Trump continued. “No, they waited until right in the middle of my very successful campaign for President.”

“If I were polling poorly, like everyone else against me is (including Crooked Joe Biden!), or, for some reason, I decided not to run, they never would have even brought this ridiculous and disgraceful lawsuit,” he added. “It is Election Interference like never before seen in our Country.”

He went on to call out President Joe Biden for his failed leadership, declaring that the real “insurrection” is the Biden administration’s weaponization of the Justice Department and their refusal to enforce border security.

“In a certain way, it is real ‘insurrection,’ especially when adding the millions of people, from places unknown, that the worst President in the history of the United States is allowing to pour into our Country, totally unchecked and unvetted. This insane Open Border’s decision will prove to be a mistake for the ages, but I will fix it. MAGA!!!” Trump concluded.
