MTG Moves To Impeach Garland

Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene [R-GA], recently introduced articles of impeachment against Attorney General Merrick Garland, who is considered a highly partisan figure. Concerns over Garland’s clear misuse of the Department of Justice (DOJ) have been widely discussed for months among Republican politicians and commentators.

Greene accused Attorney General Merrick Garland of fully weaponizing the DOJ, contending that he has employed it for political purposes. Pointing out that this weaponization has resulted in the unfair persecution of left-wing political adversaries and the establishment of a two-tiered justice system.

“His conduct as Attorney General of the United States, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of the Attorney General of the United States, and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend, the Constitution of the United States, Merrick Brian Garland continues to materially endanger the justice system of the United States” the articles read.

The articles of impeachment highlight several controversies that have drawn criticism. One significant concern is the FBI’s targeting of parents expressing concerns about their children’s education, which stemmed from a letter by a teacher’s union comparing them to “domestic terrorism.” This issue raises questions about the use of federal resources and the infringement on free speech and parental rights.

Additionally, Garland faces scrutiny for his refusal to prosecute leftist extremists who engaged in harassment and threats against Supreme Court Justices at their homes following the Dobbs decision. This selective treatment of individuals based on their political affiliations highlights an unequal application of the law.

Furthermore, the articles of impeachment point to Garland showing bias by the targeting of Joe Biden’s primary political opponent, Donald Trump. “Persecuting a declared candidate for President of the United States is nothing short of election interference,” Greene added. “Therefore, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland must be impeached.”

In addition to introducing articles of impeachment against Garland, Congresswoman Greene had initiated a resolution to impeach FBI Director Christopher Wray. These actions stem from Greene’s concerns regarding the utilization of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a federal police force. Notably, Greene had previously filed articles of impeachment against Garland in 2022 following the unconstitutional raid on Mar-a-Lago.
