Musk revealed that X was targeted in an advanced cyberattack, suggesting that it was carried out by either a well-funded group or a foreign government. “We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources,” he said.
The attack comes amid growing efforts to take down Musk. His work with President Donald Trump to audit the Department of Defense and investigate U.S. spending in Ukraine has rattled intelligence officials who have long operated without accountability. His exposure of USAID’s funding of media and leftist NGOs has only made him more enemies.
At the same time, Musk’s Tesla brand has come under assault. Protesters backed by left-wing donors have targeted Tesla facilities, while Tesla vehicles and showrooms have been vandalized. Musk’s push for government efficiency and transparency has fueled an unprecedented backlash.
With intelligence services worldwide cracking down on free speech and targeting independent platforms, it is no surprise that X — a platform that refuses to comply with government censorship demands — would be attacks.
