Lawmakers Push For Action As Unidentified Drones Alarm NJ Residents

State Sen. Jon Bramnick (R-NJ) has called for a “limited state of emergency banning all drones” in response to a surge in mysterious drone sightings across New Jersey. The unexplained activity has raised concerns about security, especially near sensitive sites like military bases.

“The State of New Jersey should issue a limited state of emergency banning all drones until the public receives an explanation regarding these multiple sightings,” Bramnick said in a statement.

The drone sightings, which began in November, have also been reported in Staten Island, New York. Witnesses describe drones with bright lights hovering over neighborhoods and secure locations, including President-elect Donald Trump’s golf course and the Picatinny Arsenal military installation.

Rep. Thomas Kean Jr. (R-NJ) has demanded federal agencies like the Department of Homeland Security and the FAA step in to investigate. “The safety and privacy of our residents must be a top priority,” Kean said, emphasizing the need for transparency and swift action.

Gov. Phil Murphy (D) acknowledged the issue but assured the public there is no immediate threat. “We are actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with federal and law enforcement partners,” Murphy stated.

As pressure mounts for answers, Bramnick’s call for an emergency drone ban highlights the growing frustration among lawmakers and residents. The lack of information about the drones has fueled fears and demands for accountability.
