A U.S. Coast Guard member has challenged the Biden administration’s dismissal of a drone swarm incident off the coast of New Jersey. The encounter involved dozens of drones following a Coast Guard vessel, an event the White House has suggested was a misidentification.
The crew member described the drones as seven feet wide with flashing lights, hovering about 100 feet above the boat. They reportedly mirrored the vessel’s movements for over 15 minutes before flying inland.
John Kirby, speaking for the National Security Council, claimed the drones were likely airliners and said no anomalous activity was detected. The Coast Guard member, however, rejected this explanation, stating, “Commercial planes don’t fly like that. We’re not making this up.”
The FAA has since banned drone operations in certain areas of New Jersey until January 17, despite the administration’s insistence that the sightings posed no security threat. Critics say the conflicting actions raise questions about the government’s transparency.
This incident adds to a growing number of unexplained drone sightings in the Northeast, many near sensitive military installations. Observers worry the administration’s dismissive approach could leave vulnerabilities unaddressed.
The Coast Guard member insisted the drones were advanced models not available commercially, suggesting they may have been linked to a government or military operation.
