A Border Patrol agent has sharply criticized the Biden-Harris administration, alleging that it has redefined the agency’s mission from border security to a “migrant concierge service.” Zachary Apotheker, a Border Patrol member since 2020, is frustrated by the changes he has observed.
Apotheker’s criticism comes as over 8 million migrants have crossed the southern border since President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took office. The agent is particularly concerned about the arrival of individuals from dangerous organizations like the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang.
The agent also raised alarms about the management of unaccompanied migrant children, many of whom lack essential documentation. The immigration system faces a backlog, with 291,000 children released without court dates and 32,000 missing their scheduled hearings.
Apotheker’s concerns extend to the broader impact on American citizens, citing issues such as resource allocation and rising crime rates. He stated, “I don’t want to bring people into the country. That’s not what I signed up to do.” Apotheker is willing to challenge his career to address what he sees as critical flaws in current border policies.
The White House and Border Patrol have yet to provide a response to Apotheker’s allegations.
