Biden’s Health Evaluation: Expert Points Out Glaring Omission

According to the chief medical correspondent at ABC News in remarks made on “The View” Friday, the final medical report released to the public from President Joe Biden’s health evaluation contained “glaring omissions” that might be relevant to the president’s ability to meet the rigorous requirements of working in the Oval Office.

Dr. Jennifer Ashton told hosts on “The View” that she noticed the missing mental evaluation and cognitive test in the report from Biden’s visit to Walter Reed Medical Center on Wednesday to get his yearly medical exam.

“We do what’s called a review of systems any time we do a physical exam on someone,” Ashton said. “That includes not only just general neurologic evaluation, but a mental evaluation, a screening for depression or psychiatric illness, mental illness, anxiety — not in there. Cognitive exam — not in there.”

The report appeared to be in a format used by the president’s physician, but “if you’re a health care professional, you know what things have not been in there,” Ashton told “The View” Friday.

Host Joy Behar did not accept the glaring omission as evidence that President Biden is unfit to perform his duties and did not want the doctor to either. “The question is, can he do the job, and it looks like he can,” Behar said.

White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor said, in a statement after carrying out the exam, “President Biden is a healthy, active 81-year-old male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, to include those as Chief Executive, Head of State and Commander in Chief.”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, “I’ll reiterate this — the president’s doctor has said if you look at what this president, the president, who is also the commander in chief — he passes a cognitive test every day — every day. As he moves from one topic to another topic — try understanding the granular level of these topics.”

“I’m just gonna say what Dr. O’Connor said to me about a year ago when [Biden’s physical] was released,” Jean-Pierre said. “The president proves every day [in] how he operates and how he thinks, by dealing with world leaders, by making difficult decisions on behalf of the American people — whether it’s domestic or it’s national security.”
